Queen Camilla drops out of royal events after suffering from chest infection.cau

Queen Camilla is battling a chest infection and has pulled out of her upcoming royal engagements.

The Queen of the United Kingdom and the wife of King Charles, had to withdraw from her engagements this week after she came down with a chest infection, according to the Buckingham Palace.

The Palace made a statement on Tuesday noting that Camilla is resting at home for her recovery, but did not provide any more details on the 77-year-old’s illness. A royal spokesperson said: “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.”

“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekends Remembrance events as normal,” they continued. “She apologizes to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

Camilla was set to appear at this year’s Remembrance event at London’s Westminster Abbey on Thursday, November 7. The annual event, the Field of Remembrance, commemorates the lives lost of those who are members of the Armed Forces by planting a poppy in tribute. The Duchess of Gloucester will be taking Camilla’s place at the event.

Last month, she went with Charles to Australia and Samoa for a royal tour. That nine-day tour was the first visit to that region since Charles took the throne in September 2022. The former Prince of Wales was diagnosed with cancer in February. Charles was initially hospitalized for an enlarged prostate in January.

He postponed his public duties as he was beginning “regular treatments.” By April, he resumed his duties while still undergoing his treatments.

During a visit at the Macmillan Wellbeing Hub in September, Camilla gave a rare comment about Charles’ health. The Hub is a a non-clinical space dedicated to provide practical and emotional support to patients, families, and carers. Camilla had a meeting with Suzy Moon, who works for Macmillan Partnership, and who asked about Charles’ welfare. The Queen responded, “He is doing very well.”
