It would be hard to find a person who doesn’t like babies. Whether it’s human babies, cat babies or Yoda-like babies, the cuteness is hard to handle. Whatever makes babies so cute probably isn’t a good look for humans. Well, unless you’re a comedian then you have your ways to make yourself funny while imitating a just weeks-old tiny human. That’s exactly what an online comedian, named Josh, did. Recently, he went viral for posting a video where he imitates his 7-week-old daughter’s ‘milk drunk faces’. The video gained over 43 million views in just 6 days and for a good reason — it’s both cute and hilarious!
Josh is known for, as he puts it, “Random, short, joyful, weird” videos. “I’m a bit different to other creators who make videos online, nearly every video I make is completely different so I suppose people “don’t know what to expect” with the next video. That’s probably not the greatest marketing decision but I can’t do it any other way! I love the freedom of being able to create any idea that comes to mind,” he told Bored Panda.
The online comedian began making videos in 2007, but it took him a little while to gain the fanbase he has now. “My first video on YouTube was in 2007! It was a video of me trying to drink 3 litres of chocolate milk in a bubble bath in a full suit, it did not end well and didn’t get many views haha,” he said.
But after some trial and error, Josh began steadily aiming for success. “I’ve always wanted just to bring a little bit of joy to people’s lives and to just make them smile. I used to be very shy but when I started to make videos, it helped me come out of my shell. It was just a hobby for about 9 years, then I had a few videos go viral which gave me a small platform of fans and now I’m blessed enough to be able to do it full time!”
The Australian-born comedian had a completely different career path before his internet fame. As it turns out, Josh was a pastor. “If you can believe it, I was a church pastor before this! I did that for 5 years and before that studied the Bible for 3 years and before that volunteered at my church lots. I’m still at church and faith is the most important thing to me, but the timing was just right a year ago to finish my work there and venture out to do this full time.”
Josh is one of the few lucky ones who managed to turn his hobby into a career. Right now, he gets to spend time doing what he loves and after recently becoming a father, he gets his daughter Billie involved in his work, too.
It appears that people absolutely love watching her, so it’s no surprise that the video of her and her father’s faces went viral. However, Josh admits that not everyone was a fan of the video.
It got 15 million views in the first 24 hours! It now has 42 million views on my channel and over 80 million views from all the reposts! Some people really like it, some people have said, “This is cute and creepy at the same time,” and some people have said they would have preferred the video if it was just my daughter in the video and not me! You can’t please everyone lol”
