The Kansas City Chiefs wanted to add some help for the pass rush this past season and went out and landed 26-year-old linebacker Josh Uche from the New England Patriots.
Uche appeared in six games with the Chiefs and had 10 total tackles. He didn’t have the impact that the Chiefs likely hoped that he would. He had two sacks with the Patriots across the first seven games of the season.
The 26-year-old had 11.5 sacks just a few years ago in 2022. He followed it up with three sacks in 2023 and then two sacks in 2024. Uche entered free agency when the season came to an end and now reportedly are joining the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“Pass-rush help for Philadelphia: Eagles reached agreement today on a one-year deal with former Chiefs free-agent LB Joshua Uche, who now will try to help replace Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham,” Schefter said. “Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln.”
The Eagles have lost some key pieces already this offseason, including Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Darius Slay. Uche is just 26 years old and has plenty of upside but things just didn’t necessarily work out in Kansas City.
Free agency is in full swing and the Chiefs haven’t done too much so far. There’s plenty of time left in the offseason and we should start to see Kansas City make a few moves in the not-so-distant future.
