After months of speculation, Jason Sudeikis has officially confirmed that Season 4 of ‘Ted Lasso’ is in the works, revealing new details about the beloved Apple TV+ series during an appearance on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, New Heights.
While many fans believed that the third season, which wrapped in June 2023, marked the conclusion of the Emmy-winning comedy, Sudeikis put those rumors to rest—though he hinted that the upcoming season will take the show in a surprising new direction.
Ted Lasso to Coach a Women’s Team in Season 4
During the interview, Sudeikis dropped an unexpected bombshell: Ted Lasso will be coaching a women’s soccer team in the new season.
“Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so there, that’s it,” Sudeikis revealed, leaving the Kelce brothers—and fans—eager for more details.
Previously, Lasso was the head coach of AFC Richmond, a fictional Premier League club, but his journey is set to take a major turn in Season 4.
Will Ted Lasso Return to the U.S.?
Travis Kelce quickly followed up on the reveal, asking whether this new coaching role meant Lasso would be returning to his home country.
“That’s too many questions,” Sudeikis playfully dodged, admitting that even he didn’t have all the answers yet.
The actor acknowledged that developing a fourth season was both “exciting” and “daunting,” as the original story arc had already been completed.
“We told the story we wanted to tell, but there’s more there, and it is a neat group of people to work with,” he added, emphasizing that fan enthusiasm played a major role in his decision to continue.

Fan Demand and Hollywood’s Influence on Season 4
Sudeikis shared that the idea for a fourth season gained momentum after Hollywood emerged from the actors’ and writers’ strikes in 2023.
“The universe kept just saying things—whether it was kind folks at airports, on the internet, or friends of my folks, or just other people in the industry… and I was just like, ‘Okay, I hear you,’” Sudeikis explained.
His remarks align with previous comments from Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence, who suggested back in August that a fourth season was possible if Sudeikis decided to continue the series.
“As fans, we’d all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing, which is: whatever Jason feels like doing and whatever his decision is, we’re all down with it,” Lawrence told Collider.
The Kelce Brothers’ Podcast Success
The interview with Sudeikis came at a high point for Travis and Jason Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, which was recently named ‘Best Sports Podcast’ at the 2025 iHeart Podcast Awards.
The award was announced by Amazon’s podcast network, Wondery, which acquired New Heights last year in a $100 million deal.
Since launching in September 2022, the podcast has skyrocketed in popularity—partly due to Travis Kelce’s high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift, which he first openly discussed on the show before it turned into a global phenomenon.
As Ted Lasso prepares for its return, fans will now be left wondering: Which women’s team will Ted be coaching? Will he return to the U.S., or stay in England? And what familiar faces might return?
With Sudeikis back at the helm, the Ted Lasso universe is set to expand once again—this time, on a brand-new playing field.
