Spectacular Encounter: Kudu’s Daring Leap Over Car to Outwit Lion, Captured on Camera

October 31, 2023 by Pham Hien

Kudu are extremely shrewd and difficult to approach. They produce a harsh alarm bark when they sense danger, frequently using their huge, radar-like ears, and then rush away in a characteristic rocking-horse gait, the male laying back his horns to avoid overhead obstacles.

An adult bull kudu’s horns have two and a half twists and, if straightened, would be around 120 cm long. Although they rarely contain three complete twists, the longest known example is 187.64 cm. The bull’s horns don’t start to develop until they are between 6 and 12 months old, twisting once at about 2 years old, and not fully until 6 years old.

Lion is the second-largest cat in the world.  These stunning cats, sometimes known as “lord of the beasts” or “king of the jungle,” have historically lived in portions of Africa, Iɴᴅɪᴀ, and Asia.

African lions frequently ʜᴜɴᴛ huge animals including wildebeest, antelope, zebras, pigs, rhinos, and hippos. Asiatic lions ʜᴜɴᴛ large animals including buffalo, goats, nilgai, cheetah, and sambar. When given the chance, lions will ʜᴜɴᴛ both larger prey up to 1,000 pounds (450kg) and smaller prey like mice and birds.
