Kane Brown Reveals How He Outsmarted Post Malone in Beer Pong—And Made Him Drink Cigarette Water

Kane Brown set the record straight about his beer pong victory over Post Malone during an appearance on CMT’s Hot 20.

Post Malone Pays the Price for a Bet Gone Wrong

Post Malone told Kane Brown to take his shot in a high-stakes round of beer pong—and it didn’t end well for the “Circles” singer.

During a friendly post-Academy of Country Music Awards matchup in May 2024, Brown and Jelly Roll faced off against Malone, 29, and Jason Aldean, 48. While many fans assumed that Malone, known for his beer pong prowess, dominated the game, Brown, 31, shared a different version of events.

“A lot of people are like, ‘Oh, who do you think won? Probably Post and Jelly, ‘cause they play all the time,’ ” Brown told Cody Alan on CMT’s Hot 20.

He then set the record straight: “Wrong! Man, I was killin’ ’em!”

A Gross Bet Leads to a Stomach-Churning Drink

Brown explained that, instead of beer, the cups were filled with water—but that didn’t make the game any less intense.

“He [Post Malone] was dumping his cigarettes in the last cup, and the table was super long,” Brown recalled.

That’s when the challenge was made.

“I was like, ‘I’m gonna hit this cup,’ and he said, ‘If you hit this cup, I’ll drink it,’ ” Brown said.

With all eyes on him, Brown took his shot.

“I looked Aldean in the eyes, and I looked at Post, and I said, ‘Drink up,’ ” he recalled before sinking the shot perfectly. True to his word, Malone downed the murky cigarette water without hesitation.

Beer Pong Battles and Wild Wagers

Brown and Jelly Roll, 48, went on to win the next round as well, defeating Malone and Aldean again.

This isn’t the first time Post Malone has gone all in on a beer pong bet. In 2019, he drank beer out of a fan’s sneaker during a concert in Australia, famously commenting afterward, “That shoe was especially sticky.”

And in 2020, after losing a beer pong match to Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Posty took things a step further—he got their signatures tattooed on his body.

“He had a tattoo artist sitting right there,” Kelce, 35, recalled during a 2024 episode of New Heights. “We beat him, put our signatures on a piece of paper, and after the show, he went straight over to the tattoo artist and got it done.”

“Man of his word, which I f—ing respect,” Kelce added.

Post Malone may be known for his party spirit, but when it comes to beer pong, even he has to take the occasional loss.
